Staff Freeze In Horror When A Dog Walks Into The Hospital Carrying This…

Chapter Nine: A Name in the Dark

The silence in the room was broken only by the faint hum of the hospital’s overhead lights. Elena stood motionless, her heart racing as the man’s words echoed in her mind. “She’s the key.” The phrase repeated over and over, each time sounding darker and more foreboding. What did he mean? What was Abigail truly a part of?

The man, whose face was still shrouded in shadows, hadn’t moved, yet Elena could feel the weight of his gaze. She needed answers, but she was no closer to understanding the truth.

“Elena, what’s happening?” Barnes’s voice broke through her thoughts. He stood at the doorway, his expression tense, his hand still resting on his weapon. He’d heard the exchange, and now his eyes were locked on the figure in front of them.

“Who are you?” Elena demanded again, trying to steady her voice. She had to get him talking, had to force some kind of clarity out of this cryptic figure. “Why are you here?”

The man finally spoke, his voice colder now. “I’m just a messenger. The question is, how much do you want to know, Elena? And how much are you willing to risk to find out?”

Elena’s pulse quickened. “What’s going to happen to Abigail?”

The man smiled faintly, his eyes narrowing. “What happens to her is up to you. If you can uncover the truth in time, you might just save her. But if you wait too long… well, then you’ll understand why she’s been marked.”

Before Elena could respond, a loud noise rang out from somewhere down the hallway—footsteps, running, fast-paced and heavy. The man’s eyes flicked toward the door, his posture immediately stiffening. “It’s too late for her now.”

“Who’s coming?” Barnes demanded, stepping forward. “What do you know?”

The man didn’t answer. Instead, he took a slow, deliberate step toward the door, his eyes fixed on Elena. “You’ll find out soon enough. But be warned: once the game starts, there’s no stopping it.”

With that, he turned and exited the room, moving so quickly that Elena barely had time to react. She rushed to the door, throwing it open just in time to see his figure disappear around the corner, vanishing into the dimly lit hospital corridor.

“Elena, we need to move,” Barnes urged, his voice tense.

“Who is he?” Elena whispered, her mind spinning. “And why does he keep talking about the game?”

They turned to Abigail, who remained unconscious on the bed. Her fate, it seemed, was tied to something much larger and far more dangerous than either of them had anticipated.

Suddenly, the door to the hallway slammed open, and a group of figures appeared, moving fast. Elena’s heart stopped as they reached the doorway. Their faces were hidden in shadows, but the way they moved—coordinated, purposeful—made it clear they weren’t here to help.
