Man Leaves Sick Wife For Mistress, But Her Revenge Shocks Him

Chapter 11: The Proposal That Started a New Chapter

Two years after Caden’s death, Elara stood on a hiking trail, looking at the lake below. Ethan had planned a surprise trip—their favorite spot, where they’d had their first kiss.

“Ready?” he asked, taking her hand.

She nodded. They walked to a clearing, where he’d set up a picnic—wine, cheese, her favorite chocolate.

They sat down. Ethan poured the wine, then took her hand.

“Elara,” he said, his voice steady. “I’ve known you for two years. In that time, I’ve watched you heal, grow, and become the strongest person I know. You’ve taught me about courage, about kindness, about never giving up.”

He got down on one knee. Elara’s breath caught.

“I don’t want to spend another day without you. Will you marry me?”

She nodded, tears streaming. “Yes. Oh my God, yes.”

He slipped a ring on her finger—simple, silver, with a small diamond. “I love you,” he said.

“I love you too,” she said.

They kissed, the lake sparkling behind them.

That night, she called Marissa. “He proposed!” she shouted.

Marissa screamed. “I knew it! I’m so happy for you!”

Elara laughed. “Me too. I never thought I’d get here. Not after Caden.”

Marissa’s voice softened. “You deserve this. You’ve earned it.”

Elara hung up and looked at the ring. It was perfect. Just like Ethan.

Over the next few months, they planned the wedding—small, with close friends and family. Maya and her parents came, too. They’d become part of Elara’s life again, slowly but surely.

On the wedding day, Elara stood in a white dress, looking at Ethan. He smiled, tears in his eyes.

“I love you,” he said.

“I love you too,” she said.

They exchanged vows. Simple, honest, full of love.

After the ceremony, Maya walked over. “You look beautiful. He’s a good man.”

Elara nodded. “I know. Thank you for being here.”

Maya hugged her. “Thank you for giving us a second chance. After everything.”

Elara looked around—at Marissa, at Ethan’s family, at Maya. She was surrounded by love. By people who cared about her.

She’d come so far. From a hospital bed, broken and betrayed, to a wedding day, happy and loved.

This was her new beginning.

And it was perfect.
